Summary

Long-duration quests (5–7 hours) may have failure rates as high as 30–40% based on prior analysis. If accurate, this is a significantly painful player experience — a 7-hour quest that fails returns nothing after a full day of waiting.

What Needs Investigation

  • Confirm the exact failure rate formula in the quest resolution service
  • Check whether failure rates scale with quest duration and/or combat power surplus
  • Determine if the failure rate is intended as a risk/reward mechanic or an oversight

Affected Quests (Long Duration Examples)

Quest Duration CP Required
Storm Citadel 5h 1,500,000
Frozen Throne 7h 3,000,000
Shadow Marshes zone quests 45m–90m 2M–20M+

Suggested Fix

If failure rates are not intentionally scaling with duration, cap failure probability at a reasonable ceiling (e.g. 15% maximum regardless of quest length). Alternatively, ensure that meeting the combat power requirement guarantees a much higher baseline success rate — the CP gate should be the primary difficulty check, not a dice roll on top of it.
